Progression of Game Rules

Maze of Ghosts is a game of luck and skill.
It is a struggle between survival and death in a hostile and unstable realm.
Survivors made it safely to the realm of an Overseer, but must escape.
Ghosts and disasters will become obstacles.
Relics and fortunes will become the keys to survival.
Maze of Ghosts has undergone changes with those statements in mind.

Under new rules, Survivors are capable of making more then 1 choice per turn. They can make a total of five choices and will survive or die based on how those choices impact them. A survivor that obtains 3 ghosts or 3 disasters will be considered Deceased. A Survivor that obtains 3 relics or 3 fortunes will be considered Released.

If no combination is found like described above, there still exists slower means of being released or becoming deceased. The less risky way is still possible by making less than 3 choices per turn.

Usage of Relics and avoiding the conditions of Ghost cards will remain in the game. The ghost and relic cards remain unchanged in nature, but will become more important with the new rules.

End of Campaign

The Kickstarter project would have ended today if not for a cancellation. The cancellation was considered the best path to begin setting up the product for a few e-commerce sites. The current plan is to have Maze of Ghosts in limited supply for sale by April 25, 2015.

It is my intention to bring the game to market as a complete and unique experience. By deciding to cancel the Kickstarter campaign early on, I was able to devote more time to the product and improve upon it. This includes new artwork. More changes are undergoing consideration at this time.

For those interested in the product, I will provide updates on a weekly basis. My goal with the updates will inform viewers of new mechanics, adjustments to rules, specific card highlights, and planned events such as test sessions.

I want to thank Casual Dragon Games for backing my project and for helping me along the way with some words of wisdom.

Thank you

Survivors are lost in an unstable realm that is normally hazardous to mortals. They survived the journey to the realm, but getting back home is another struggle. The Overseer watches from the shadows as ghosts interact with the Survivors. What happens next will depend on the choices made.

Demonstration video: final thoughts

In the previous video demonstration, I sat down with Laura and Kristian using modified decks of 18 cards.

I played with them on several occasions and felt it important to spice up the game using cards they have not seen yet. It was an interesting turn of events, since Kristian believed he could tell the order of cards.

Throughout the video he remained mostly observant. He was thinking back on former play tests to determine his best move. Since I changed out cards with some Kickstarter exclusives, he was unable to correctly predict what the next card would be.

The next demonstration is planned to have 9 cards per deck. It is possible to go lower, but not recommended. An Overseer could also include more then 18 cards, but that will have an effect on the game. At no point will duplicates of cards be used within a deck. Each event is just as likely to occur as others.

To potential Overseers:

4 types of cards exist within a game
Card effects may require that specific cards are included in a deck.
Card effects may work better with other card effects

Campaign Update:
20 days are left on the Kickstarter project
I have 1 backer now and feel great.
Even if I don't get backed fully, I will make every effort to bring this game to the market.
But would greatly appreciate comments and feedback.

New Demonstration Video up

New demonstration video is up on Kickstarter. Take a look at the project at:

or View the video below.

The video was created during a visit of some friends. I figured I would put up a demonstration of the game that was more viewer friendly.

The 3 decks in Maze of Ghosts share a special relationship with each other. There exists a soft 18 card limit, but the amount of and what cards are used depends on the Overseer.

New video up on kickstarter

I created a video for the Kickstarter project that goes into details about playing the game. I also threw in some spooky music. Enjoy.

The Game Manual

These are 2 pages of the manual and written specifically for individuals to get an understanding how to play the standard game. It also includes how extra pieces that come with special versions of the game are used. Both the downloadable document and the rulebook will share a similar flow.

However, I plan on adding specific backers to the book as a greater form of gratitude. Everyone who gets the game will know that the product was pushed further thanks to the giving backers.

I must stress that the book may yet change more before the full release, but it is coming along and developing visually and structurally.
